Don’t forget!!!
This Saturday Night!!!!

Rhea Valley is excited to share our Thanksgiving meal with guests again this year. We would like to invite you to join your student for a healthy and delicious lunch on Thursday, November 16th. The cost for an adult lunch is $5.00 per adult.
In order for our cafeteria staff to plan for the meal, we will need an accurate count of who will be attending. We will be limiting each student to two guests and meals must be prepaid for. If you plan to attend, please complete the form that was sent home with your child and return it by November 9, 2023. No late forms or prepayments will be accepted after this date.

Rhea Valley Elementary School enjoyed a fun Vocabulary Parade. The students and staff dressed up as different words. The Trunk or Treat event added to the excitement, with everyone enjoying themselves and sharing candy. It was a great way for students to learn new words and have fun together. Thank you to our parents/guardians, community members, area businesses, HHS clubs, and others for helping to make this an amazing event.

Attached is our form and information on our Angel Tree Program.

WCPS leaders are excited to be a part of the SWVA Leadership Conference today. Dr. Lisa Coons, Virginia DOE Superintendent kicked off the conference with encouraging and challenging expectations for the future of Education in Virginia. #WashingtonWay

Don't forget to send candy for our Trunk-or-Treat next Tuesday. We need all candy brought in by Friday to make sure we have enough. Thank you for your support!

Rhea Valley Elementary will be providing optional after-school childcare from 1:00-3:30 on October 25th for early dismissal. This will be free childcare; however, we will not be able to provide transportation. The form will go home tomorrow and will need to be returned on Wednesday in order for your child to stay.

Good afternoon,
We were all heartbroken when we learned that Cameron Craig had lost his life in the line of duty as a local Firefighter. The services to honor his sacrifice will occur on Wednesday afternoon and the procession will have a tremendous impact on traffic in our community. In order to honor Cameron's ultimate sacrifice and to ensure that our buses and car traffic do not interfere with the procession, all Washington County Public Schools will dismiss 2 hours early on Wednesday, October 25. Childcare will be available at all middle and elementary schools for working families who need that service. Each school will provide individual details prior to Wednesday.
Thank you for your understanding. We know you join us in loving, supporting, and praying for everyone involved.
Thank you,
Keith Perrigan, Ed.D.
Superintendent

On behalf of our School Board and the more than 1000 employees of WCPS, I would like to express our sympathy and support to the families of everyone affected by the recent tragedy experienced by the Abingdon Fire Department and our community. For decades, the Abingdon Fire Department has served our community with courage, integrity, and selfless sacrifice for which we are indescribably grateful. There are no words that can express our condolences to everyone involved, but please know that you will have our love, support, and prayers in the coming days, weeks, and months.
Thank you,
